Hickory Ridge High School Salutes Veterans

Two dozen local veterans, including those who traveled from as far as Gastonia and South Carolina, were honored in a “Salute To Veterans” held prior to Friday night’s football game between the Ragin’ Bulls and the Concord Spiders at Hickory Ridge High School. Members of American Legion Riders Post 51 in Concord participated in the event, which included the playing of “Echo Taps.” Veterans were then invited onto the field to oversee the coin toss. The Ragin’ Bulls went on to squash the Spiders, 63-8. Military Appreciation Night was organized by Harrisburg’s Michael Stubbs, commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Combat Wounded Veterans Chapter 634, and Hickory Ridge Athletic Director Philip Furr.
