NASCAR drivers Ryan Newman and Chase Briscoe – joined by the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile – headlined Charlotte Motor Speedway’s 11th annual Parade of Power on Wednesday afternoon. Highlighting the upcoming fall Season of Speed at the speedway, the family-friendly event attracted spectators from across the area, and as far as Wisconsin.
The parade began at the zMAX Dragway and ended at pit row. Mr. Newman, who commands the No. 6 Oscar Mayer Ford for Roush Fenway Racing, and Mr. Briscoe, who drives the NASCAR Xfinity Series No. 98 Ford for Stewart-Haas Racing, then answered questions and signed autographs. They also joined select fans for a ride on Sasquatch, a monster truck.
“Parade of Power is always a blast,” said Greg Walter, the speedway’s executive vice president and general manager. “When you add the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile as kind of a non-sequitur, it’s so much fun.”
In addition to the upcoming fall schedule, the Parade of Power previewed the second running of the Bank of America Roval 400 scheduled for Sunday, September 29, the cutoff race in the first round of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. Mr. Briscoe, who took home the checkered flag at last year’s inaugural race, will look to defend his title next month.
